Kamran Riaz, MD - Ophthalmologist and Award-Winning Medical Educator

Kamran Riaz, MD, is an ophthalmologist whose career includes work in clinical practice and medical education. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine, where he was a finalist for the Gold Humanism Honor Society Award. Dr. Kamran Riaz also holds bachelor’s degrees in economics and history from the same institution, graduating magna cum laude with departmental distinction.

Dr. Riaz is currently a clinical associate professor of ophthalmology at the Dean McGee Eye Institute, University of Oklahoma. He also serves as director of medical student research and director of the Stephenson Refractive Surgery Center. His work has been recognized by publications such as Oklahoma Magazine, The Journal Record, and 405 Magazine. He has also received honors such as the Castle Connolly Top Doctor distinction and the American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award in 2023.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Riaz spent time in private practice. He has also received several teaching awards for his efforts in ophthalmic education. His work continues to focus on patient care, academic instruction, and mentoring future eye care professionals.
